le pince, bretodeau

one of the last scenes in the film amlie is one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen in my life. i like the rest of the movie, but all the same, every time i watch it it seems like i'm sitting through everything else to get to that one moment. amlie has just finished watching the glass man's tape telling her that she has to catch nino before it's too late. she goes to the window, but he's not on the street anymore, so she runs to the door and flings it wide open and he's standing right there. she pulls him into her apartment by his lapels and shushes him and everything is dead silent. and she kisses him on the cheek, the neck, and the eyelid, with his lashes tickling her cheek. he looks at her, and she points to her face. then he does the same thing she just did. god, it's so fucking beautiful. the silence makes everything so pronounced, every movement heavy with emotion and breathlessness.

i really love that movie.
